Geometry

The use of geometry in Andrew's photography creates a sense of order and harmony in his images. By using straight lines, circles, and other geometric shapes strategically, Andrew creates a visual rhythm that draws the viewer's eye through the image. This helps to create a sense of depth and dimensionality, making the image more engaging and dynamic.

Color

While Andrew has dabled with color film, he prefers the dramatic and historical nature of black and white. On occassion, he finds the quality of A.I. colorized black and white images to be just what he's looking for.

Historical Connection

Throughout his film career, Andrew has had the previlage of working with 35mm and medium format using cameras from as early as 1934 with the Agfa Billy-Clack 74, to as recent as the Fujica ST701 (formerly his grandfather's camera). Andrew believes that sharing a special bond to our past through the art and mechanical process of film photography keeps us grounded in an increasingly modernized world.

Social Connection

In an age where so much of our social interactions are mediated through screens, film photography offers a chance to connect with others in a more tangible way. By taking pictures as a group and sharing the images themselves, photographers can build meaningful relationships and a sense of community around their shared passion. Here we find lab members brought closer together for a dramatic pose, or Grace Li honing her digital and film skills with friends.
